Hey guys.... This time I'm going to share a Cutlet recipe using Soya Chunks. They are very rich in protein and Its like vegetable beef. And one more reason why i like these soya chunks cutlets is because of its easy preparation. They are very soft inside and crispy outside. I go for deep frying when I need to prepare this in bigger proportions . If you choose deep frying method, it doesn't require any precooking like we used to do for bread cutlets. Simply mix all the ingredients, make round patties and deep fry them.
Sometimes, I prefer shallow frying method too when I prepare this dish in small batches but it requires precooking and takes little long time. So to make things little easier i'm sticking with deep frying method. Now off to the recipe.
Ingredients:
Soyabean chunks – 1/4 kg
Onion (medium) - 3 nos(finely chopped)
Ginger - two small pieces(finely chopped)
Curryleaves - 2 sprigs(finely chopped0
Green chilies – 3 nos(finely chopped)
Potato - 2 nos
Fennel seeds - 1 tbsp(powdered)
Black pepper – 1 tbsp(powdered)
All purpose flour (Maida)/ Breadcrumbs -100g
Oil - As required
Salt - As required
Method:
1. Soak soyabean chunks for one hour in water. Drain the water and press dry. Crush in a mixer and keep aside.
2. Cook the potatoes in a pressure cooker and mash them.
3. Take a frying pan and pour oil. Heat the oil and add chopped onions, chopped ginger, green chillies and curry leaves.
4. Stir in the crushed soyabean chunks and sauté for sometime. Add powdered fennel seeds and black pepper and keep stirring.
5. Add the mashed potato and required salt. Mix and stir on low heat.
6. Make small cutlets with your palms and keep aside.
7. Take the all purpose flour in a bowl and add little water. Stir in low heat and make a paste.
Or else you can use breadcrumbs to dip the cutlets instead of the all purpose flour.
8. Pour oil in a pan for frying the soyabean cutlets. Dip each soyabean cutlet in the maida paste or breadcrumbs and deep fry on both sides till golden brown in color.
9. Soyabean cutlet is ready and serve hot.(it tastes amazing when you have it with some spicy coleslaw)
PS: Its not necessary to use soya chuncks as the main ingredient. Any vegetable or meat can be used according to your preference.
I've tweaked the original recipe little bit here and there to make it a lot easier for you all to try. So i'm sure you will get it cooked up soon.
