Let me begin this post by saying how excited I am to share this donut recipe with you. What can I say? Donuts are exciting. They thrill me to the bone.
Second, let me lay one thing out on the table: Making good, raised donuts at home is not as easy as you’d think . For years (yes, you heard me) I tried in vain to make the perfect homemade donut—not just a fat, bready way of fried dough with a sweet glaze, but a delicate, light ring of love with a slightly crispy surface and a wonderful flavor. Like those Krispy Kreme and MOD Donuts.
The donuts I’m sharing with you today are pretty darn close. Keep in mind, though, that it might take a time or two of making them before the process feels totally comfortable. I tried to keep the instructions below as specific and precise as I could. But do give them a try sometime. Because they are fun to make and easy to eat!!
Ingredients:
1 1⁄2cups flour (maida)
3⁄4cup sugar
1⁄4teaspoon salt
1large egg
1 1⁄2teaspoons baking powder
1tablespoon ghee or 1 tablespoon oil
1⁄2cup powdered milk
1⁄2teaspoon vanilla essence
oil (for deep frying)
1tablespoon icing sugar
warm water, as needed
Method:
In a bowl beat egg,sugar,vanilla and shortening with the help of an electric beater. If u do not have an electric beater then u may use a whisk or spoon.
Now in another bowl take flour and add baking powder,salt,Powder milk. Mix well with the help of your hands.
Add the egg mixture in flour. Knead with the help of your hands. U will not be able to make a dough, so for kneading dough add a bit of warm water. Keep on adding warm water until u get a dough.
The dough should not be very soft or very hard. Make 4-6 small balls out of this dough. Take a ball on your palm, flatten it a bit , insert your finger in the middle and rotate it. Make a hole in the middle not so big , not so small.
Heat oil, and when oil is heated well then fry the Donuts (Not all at a time).Fry two or one donuts at one time. Be careful about the flame of your stove it should not be so large. The flame should be medium while frying. When the Donuts nuts will become brown in colour, Take in a serving dish and sprinkle some icing sugar on it.
Do not spread so much icing sugar that they become white. Just sprinkle a pinch of icing sugar on each donut.
Enjoy the quick and easy Donuts at evening or when u think of eating something really delicious. You may also add your favourite toppings like chocolate chips, dip it in chocolate syrup or sprinkles.
